Optichrome welcomes National Citizen Service students
Optichrome was happy to welcome a great group of Year 11 and 12 students with the National Citizen Service on a ‘Professional Visit’ this week, giving them a behind-the-scenes look at an active business.
Predominantly a community development programme, the NCS joins together students from varying backgrounds toward career building certifications. The group explored our factory, shared questions with our Managing Director John Heywood and Group Managing Director Natalie Stephens, and discovered how we operate. They then pitched their idea for a new initiative to us.
The group’s plans to strengthen the community, and the lives of individuals, by sharing access to dance classes that encourage fitness and expression are inspiring and creative, and John Heywood had only positive things to say – “The group made an excellent presentation to myself and two fellow directors. Even though they had only a few hours to prepare their plan they had managed to allocate clearly defined responsibilities for each element of their task to smaller teams within the group. Each team then explained how they planned to execute their part of the project. We were very impressed with their professionalism, good ideas and enthusiasm.”
We’re proud to have supported the NCS group on their journey and look forward to seeing the group present their final pitch in Woking town centre this weekend.
